Fatema Al Fardan

Fatema Al Fardan is a multidisciplinary artist interested in complexifying Emirati narratives. She earned a dual BA in Art and Art History: Art Practice and in Economics from New York University Abu Dhabi (2020). Al Fardan examines her national monolithic identity through photography and performance, questioning both cultural and social homogeneity attached to Emiratis. Her work has been exhibited in Made in NY Media Center by IFP (2019), “Al Raheel” at The NYUAD Arts Center (2020), “COVID-19 Artist Relief Print Sale” at Gulf Photo Plus (2020) and “Art in Isolation: Creativity in the Time of COVID-19” at Middle East Institute’s Art & Culture Center (2020). She won “Best Photo Associated with Sustainability” at the Abu Dhabi Ports Photography Competition (2017).
