The body of women has always had a strong attraction for me, be it real, imagined or represented by artists, starting from the classics of painting up to the nude in photography. My work on female nude is completely made using natural light and is born from the fusion of these ‘real and imagined’ definitions in the hope of being able to celebrate their beauty. The women I photograph (some I have photographed for several years) are real women, in the sense that they are not professional models and all, apart from a few exceptions, know my work well. Women who pose with shared conviction, sometimes suggesting poses, always actively involved with the balance and tensions returned by the images. In some cases I had the feeling of being a camera operator rather than the creator of the scene or the author of the photo, to the point of wondering if I was the one who established the content of that image. The first part of this work begins in 1989 and ends in 2018, the year I left the Turin studio, where I took almost all the photographs in the brightest room. The second part is in the making.

De-constructing the landscape elements and examining their visual ambiguity: this was what I had in mind when I chose to work on a highly industrialized area like the Emilian tile industry, where imposing factories characterize the landscape and shape the territory. Following the chameleonic properties of clay, the raw material of ceramic processing, I set a common thread between the mud in its primordial state and the grotesque artificial forms, working on the reliability of human perception.

“Guajiro” is the name of the Cuban farmers, a figure in between a peasant and a cowboy. They usually live in the countryside, in small remote villages called Caserios, made-up of few houses dislocated all over the island. They conduct a tough rough life in a symbiotic relationship with animals and nature. Their days start very early in the morning and end at sunset, following the rhythm of nature. When I arrived in Cuba, I was looking for something that reminds me of that part of my childish life. Something that could reconcile me with my roots (my grandparents were peasants and I lived with them). A kind of “call of the wild”. I “jumped” into Caserio La Nueva, somewhere between Santa Clara and Cienfuegos and I immediately felt at home. I became part of their broad family which is running the State farm here. Since 2017 I’ve been visiting them many times, working with them, eating with them, sleeping with them. Living with them.

Riviera, In my images, I follow the interaction between human and his urban context, I’m attracted by the dimension of the space in relation to the subject and his stage. Also, by the iconography of places from its signs. I like the idea of holding and abstracting by posing the reality around. Some of the images presented here are part of a larger project that collects more points of view, and locations devoted to the Italian Riviera, this ongoing work started in 2018 after a trip in Liguria capturing the Mediterranean aesthetic of the iconic bygone Italian summer.

“Focus” is an open research that relates pairs of photographs to each other.

A combined dialogue which invites the observer to think about the essence of the elements photographed. Focus is a personal visual journey aimed at creating perceptions between two totally detached situations. A process developed to redefine the identity of two elements through the eyes of the observer. Individual visual identities change when placed in relation to a second image.

Focus will continue to evolve for now only on OEG.

    The Extravangant Creature Swallowing dreams.

I was born without God. Noone taught me to have Faith. I’d loved to keep Ideology by my side, but after a while I acknowledged to be dull or ignorant, or at least unable to reinvent it all the time, while all the others joined the crowd of Property faithful followers. In an advanced decay stage, I understood I was just a devotee of Perceptions and Impressions, and I bet on personal things, relationships, groups. But there was nothing to do. Even these last solo gambles started to melt, and friends who were part of the game started to die. At this point, now, it is a mess. The absurd is present. And so, should I got Camus’s words right, I have to bet on his idea: we should imagine a happy Sisifo. Happy when he is running down the hill, happy when he is taking the stone up the hill, happy when the stone starts to slip down the hill, in a continual circle. But, to be honest, a lot of love is needed to live the absurd time, looking for happiness in this Extravangant Creature Swallowing Dreams.

Rabbit Island is a 91-acre forested island in Lake Superior three miles east of Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula (USA). The majority of the island is held under a conservation easement granted by the Keweenaw Land Trust, assuring its unique ecosystem and will serve as a platform for science, art, preservation, and recreation for the generations. Rabbit Island is an Art Residency for artists where I spent one month in June 2018 considering the island my sketchbook, drawing with lights, colors, waves, stone marks, clouds, fog, and everything I could not control. Photos of my research I don’t draw related to several land art and fictional actions are available exclusively on OEG to support my work with Rabbit Island and other charity projects. The residency reflects on the American continent’s four hundred year history of settlement and division of land. It stems from the idea that in a developed society, the intelligent organization of wild spaces is one of the most civilized things we can pursue. The island itself, an unsettled and undivided area, enables artists to present commentary on these ideas, creating interpretations and solutions to issues of the global importance of climate change, loss of natural habitat, the value of pristine watersheds, the environmental implications of entrepreneurship, and so forth. Modern understanding of our biological reality and our cause-and-effect relationship dictates a need for principles worthy of time. An uncontrolled urbanization as a result of speculation, rapid population growth and a continuous influx of migrants from nearby war areas has seen the city of Amman, the capital of Jordan, expand in the last fifteen years by 65%, with the 50% of the agricultural land in the area reconverted into urban areas. Something very similar happened in other Jordanian cities such as Zarqa and Irbid.A development without rules that has led Amman to become the most expensive city in the Middle East, more than Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha. An unsustainable development for cities where entire neighborhoods receive water only once a week and for a country that is one of the poorest in the world of resources. Jordan, in fact, is the second country worldwide with fewer water reserves and according to the UN, with no changes in the development system the country would run out of water by 2025.“Bye Bye Land” is a visual survey of a country and a territory invested by a rapid change. A change that is taking away the few resources available to the population, leaving behind cement, inadequate infrastructures and almost deserted neighborhoods.
